UK: Three men charged after huge Cornwall cocaine bust

Three men have been charged with drug offences after officers from the National Crime Agency – supported by Border Force colleagues – discovered around 300kg of cocaine on a small boat off the coast of Sennen.

Witnesses took to social media on the afternoon of Friday September 13 after spotting police activity on Gwynver Beach, Sennen. A RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) was escorted to the shore from the sea.

On Saturday a spokesperson for the NCA – the UK’s equivalent to the USA’s Federal Bureau of Investigation – said officers seized “approximately 300k of cocaine, after stopping a RIB off the coast of Penzance, Cornwall.” The spokesperson said three men were arrested on suspicion of importing Class A drugs and taken into police custody.

This evening three men were charged with the importation of a class A drug.

They are Peter Williams, aged 43 of Grove Road, Havant in Hampshire; Scott Johnston, aged 37 of of Penk Ridge, Havant in Hampshire and Edwin Yahir Tabora Baca, aged 32 of Barcelona, Spain.

All have been remanded into custody to appear at Bodmin Magistrates’ Court tomorrow, September 16.
