LCB Action: Cannabis Related Rulemaking – Transfer of authority for accreditation of cannabis testing laboratories (implementing 2SHB 2151)

On Feb. 26, 2025, during its regularly scheduled meeting the Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB) took the following cannabis-related action:

Transfer of authority for accreditation of cannabis testing laboratories (implementing 2SHB 2151) Proposed rules filed: Public comment period now open

The Board approved a rule proposal (CR 102) to amend four sections and repeal two sections of chapter 314-55 WAC to implement Second Substitute House Bill (2SHB) 2151 (chapter 69, Laws of 2024) and House Bill (HB) 1859 (chapter 135, Laws of 2022). These actions relate to the transfer of authority for cannabis laboratory accreditation and laboratory quality standards, respectively, from LCB to the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Both 2SHB 2151 and HB 1859 went into effect on July 1, 2024. The proposed rule changes are identified in the CR 102 Memorandum and the CR 102 Form below.
