Anza (CA) Authorities Seize 20 Tonnes Of Illegally Grown Cannabis

The Desert Sun reports…..More than 20 tons of marijuana being illegally grown in Riverside County have been seized in two raids a week apart in the Anza area, officials said. Four people face charges as a result of the raids.

In the most recent busts on Monday, a joint task force of Riverside County sheriff’s deputies, fish and game officers and water quality control board officials served nine marijuana cultivation search warrants in the Anza area, officials said.

They seized 4,131 plants and 1,029 pounds of processed marijuana, together weighing about 10 tons, sheriff’s officials said. In addition, $900 in cash and two firearms were was seized as evidence.

Two men were identified by sheriff’s officials as suspects: John C. Crieg, 68, and George Hanin, 61. both of Anza. Sheriff’s officials said marijuana cultivation charges would be filed with the district attorney.

The first of the two raids was Sept. 30, when the same agencies again served six marijuana cultivation search warrants in Anza.

In these searches, 12.5 tons of illegally grown weed — 2,105 plants and 14 pounds of processed marijuana — were seized. One handgun and $15,000 in cash also were seized.
