Belize: Police Officer and Family Charged After Cocaine Bust in Corozal

An officer attached to the Criminal Investigation Branch and several of his family members were charged by police today after being busted with almost 10 kilos of cocaine. Yesterday, police conducted a joint operation at the home of 57-year-old Alicia Margarita Montalvo in Corozal Town and found the eight bricks of cocaine.  Police say the narcotics, marked with “Dolce Gabbana”, were found inside a wardrobe. During the operations, a police officer attached to CIB in Belize City arrived at the home indicating that it was his mother’s house. He requested to be present during the search and was then informed that if anything illegal was found it would be presumed as being his as well. The group was detained and today, eight of them were charged with for Possession of Controlled Drugs with Intent to Supply to Another. Those charged are Alicia Margarita Montalvo, Enair Abiezer Montalvo, Nadiel Jasiel Montalvo, Edney Ezequiel Montalvo, Aida Cabañas, Seidy Anita Montalvo, Abiel Imer Mateo Montalvo, and a 17-year-old female minor.
