Cannatrek and multinational cannabis company Clever Leaves have signed a two-year, take-or-pay supply agreement worth US$3.6m that includes high-THC flower from Portugal.
Cannatrek has been offering Australian patients 10% and 20% oral CBD solutions supplied by Clever Leaves from Colombia since 2020.
Clever Leaves will now provide a strain of high-THC flower available via the Special Access and Authorised Prescriber schemes.
Cannatrek has committed to purchasing a minimum of US$3.6m, with the next shipment planned for March 2022.
Clever Leaves president Andrés Fajardo described Australia as “a key market” for the company in 2022.
“Expanding our partnership [with Cannatrek] will certainly help in addressing the country’s growing demand for safe, reliable and, most importantly, pharmaceutical-grade products,” he added.
Cannatrek CEO Tommy Huppert said the firm was “rapidly expanding” its distribution footprint in Australia.
“The strategic expansion of Clever Leaves product supply is fundamental to the growth of our local market and increasing patient choice,” he added.
