Compliance Specialist SAN FRANCISCO, CA

This role reports to our Compliance Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Policy developments:

  • Track and summarize US Federal and state legislation in FiscalNote and use industry resources to track additional jurisdictions, including international (Canada) and relevant local and municipal
  • Track regulations relating to advertising, packaging and labeling, retail locations, concentrate, sales restrictions and vapor products (including e-cigarettes)
  • Inform key business partners of changes in policy/regulations that will affect PAX or its brand partners
  • Tag bills for priority, subject matter, and provide quick summary
  • Complete in-depth analysis on bills that require potential lobbying efforts, in conjunction with Government Affairs and Compliance Team members
  • Update packaging & labeling and advertising workbooks for any new rule changes
  • Support Government Affairs in lobbying efforts as needed

State Regulatory Review:

  • Draft and coordinate regulatory reviews for new markets
  • Review all content produced by PAX’s brand partners
  • Review all US and Canadian packaging labels for devices and pods
  • Assist with review of blog, journal, and social media content for compliance concerns

Brand Partner Content Moderation:

  • Review all content produced by PAX’s brand partners for compliance concerns
  • Advise commercial team on brand partner communications alerting them to compliance concerns

Pod Label Review/Device Packaging Review:

  • Review all US and Canadian pod packaging labels
  • Review Device Packaging
  • Keep workbooks/checklists for packaging review up-to-date

Marketing Channels Owned by PAX:

  • Assist with review of blog, journal, and social media content for compliance concerns

Internal processes for the Compliance team:

  • Assist the Compliance Manager with the maintenance of team resources, training materials, workbooks and SOPs
  • Assist with preparing materials for training of employees on compliance programs and SOPs.

Assist with commercial due diligence programs with brand partners and authorized retailers by:

  • Collecting licenses from operators; determining licensure required for Brand Partners and retailers as PAX expands into new states

Support compliance program implementation in retail channel by:

  • Maintaining program of document collection
  • Reviewing compliance documentation and entering information into tracking platforms
  • Supporting Inside Sales Team and Territory Sales Managers in compliance initiatives

Support Compliance Manager in maintenance of Brand Partner compliance program channel by:

  • Keeping auditable database of BP documentation updated
  • Assisting with weekly audit requests with Brand Partner Managers

Support Compliance Managers in review of Marketing Department initiatives by:

  • Reviewing materials/collateral submitted for review by Marketing Department
  • Coordinating legal comments on materials submitted for communication to Marketing team

EXPERIENCE

  • 2+ years of experience in regulatory, compliance or policy position in heavily regulated industry (cannabis industry a bonus, but not required)
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Enthusiasm for PAX and the cannabis industry generally

EDUCATION

  • BS or BA degree from accredited college or university
