A lawyer has been accused of attempting to take marijuana to a former client in the Monroe County Jail, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Michael Witmer, 32, of Rochester was arrested about 12:15 p.m. Friday and charged with attempted second-degree promoting prison contraband, a misdemeanor.
Witmer is accused of attempting to leave a towel containing marijuana for inmate Herbert Johnson, believed to be a former client of the lawyer’s.
The Sheriff’s Office also said Witmer can no longer set foot in Monroe County jail facilities.
