Cannabis addiction among a quarter of medical cannabis users
2025-01-20 | A meta-analysis of 14 studies and 3,681 patients has found a prevalence of cannabis use disorder of 25% among users of medical cannabis, which is comparable to that of regular recreational users, reports the German Health Portal. The analysis showed that the risk of addiction was linked to demographic factors, mental illness and the treatment of chronic pain, among other things. It is recommended that more emphasis be placed on monitoring consumption and measures to prevent addiction in future.
