First cultivation association approved in Berlin
08/23/2024 | Marzahn-Hellersdorf has become the first district in Berlin to approve a cannabis social club, reports the Berliner Morgenpost. The Green Leaf Society e.V. was granted permission, which according to district councillor Gordon Lemm (SPD) is due to the high sense of responsibility and the well thought-out structure of the application. Since the partial legalization of cannabis in April and the possibility for cultivation associations to apply for a permit since July, there has been uncertainty in Berlin as to which authority is responsible for the permit. Until a final regulation is made, the districts remain responsible. In future, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (LaGeSo) is to take on this task, while the district offices are to monitor the cultivation areas. A corresponding ordinance by the health administration is being planned, and the Berlin Senate is expected to discuss it on September 3
