TV news outlet WTXL TALLAHASSEE, Fla. have reported that Two 19-year-olds have been arrested, accused of committing a home invasion robbery in Tallahassee that ended with two victims being shot.
Angelica Shantrell Colson, 19, and De’Aundre Parker, 19, were arrested on Saturday. They are charged with attempted homicide and home invasion robbery with a firearm.
According to court documents, the Tallahassee Police Department was called to Villa San Marcos Apartments on March 6 about a shooting.
When they spoke with the victims, they said they were in the apartment smoking marijuana when three armed suspects bust through the front door.
The suspects announced a robbery while holding the victims at gunpoint. Court documents say the victims were instructed to turn over their valuables, including money, cellphones, electronics and jewelry.
As they collected the items, documents say the suspects started to leave. But before they all left, one of the suspects turned around and fired at the victims, hitting two of them.
Those victims were hospitalized for their injuries.
When investigators tracked the stolen cellphones’ locations, they discovered that one phone was at a Monticello residence. Investigators learned that Colson stayed at the home and went to pay her a visit.
When they spoke with Colson, she was able to produce the cellphone but said her brother may have brought it into the house. As a part of the investigation, officers seized Colson’s cellphone.
As they searched phone, they learned Colson had been speaking with a drug dealer on March 6, asking to purchase some marijuana. The drug dealer provided Colson with the address where the home invasion took place several hours later.
Between 8:58 p.m. and 10:31 p.m., Colson did not respond to calls or messages. Investigators note the robbery took place at 9:34 p.m.
A few days later, investigators learned that Colson had been trying to cover up the incident all along.
According to witnesses, Colson asked someone to babysit for her the afternoon of March 6 so she could, “hit a lick,” which is a street phrase commonly used when someone intends to commit a robbery.
Colson told witnesses that she, Parker, and two other people were going to travel to Tallahassee to commit the crime. Documents note the suspects came to Tallahassee in a black Chevrolet Impala, the same car investigators spotted at Colson’s home days earlier.
Witnesses told police that Colson came to them the next day asking for help finding people who would be willing to provide her with a false alibi.
On March 8, Colson tried to give one of the witnesses a puppy that had been stolen during the home invasion robbery and tried to convince the witness to lie for her.
She explained to the witness that the group had stolen a pound of cannabis from the home, as well as the cellphones and puppy.
When investigators got in contact with Parker, he told them that he, Colson and two others had split the stolen “weed” and told Colson to get rid of the cellphones and other stolen property in her car.
Based on the investigation, warrants for Colson’s and Parker’s arrest were issued on March 9. They were taken into custody by the Leon County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday.
Both Colson and Parker remain in jail on a $50,000 bond.
