Hong Kong Customs yesterday (May 7) detected a drug trafficking case involving baggage concealment at Hong Kong International Airport. About 9 kilograms of suspected cannabis buds with an estimated market value of about $1.9 million were seized.
A 66-year-old male passenger and a 40-year-old female passenger arrived in Hong Kong from Bangkok, Thailand, yesterday. During Customs clearance, 17 packs of suspected cannabis buds weighing about 9kg in total were seized in their check-in suitcases. The two persons were subsequently arrested.
The arrested persons have been jointly charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. The case will be brought up at the West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts tomorrow (May 9).
