Hong Kong: Three arrested in HK$44m drug bust in Cheung Sha Wan and Tai Kok Tsui

Two men and a woman were arrested in a HK$44 million drug bust as they were found using a Cheung Sha Wan home and a Tai Kok Tsui unit to keep over 50 kg of heroin, ketamine and cocaine.

The operation was conducted on Monday afternoon as customs intercepted two suspicious men who were moving 10 boxes at a residential building in Cheung Sha Wan, in which officers found 45 kg of suspected heroin hidden in 124 bags.

The two men were later escorted to a nearby private home where cops further seized about 1.5 kg of suspected cocaine, a small amount of suspected ketamine and crack cocaine, and some drug packaging equipment.

Another woman there was also arrested.

After further investigations, customs raided a commercial building in Tai Kok Tsui and seized about 3 kg of heroin, 1.1 kg of ketamine, and about 700 g of cocaine.

The drugs were worth about HK$44 million and the trio arrested, aged 22 to 24, were reportedly truck driver, logistic worker and piano teacher.

Customs believed drug syndicates have been using private homes and commercial units for storing and packing drugs in order to diversify the risks.

Officers also believed the operation successfully stopped the drugs from entering the market in West Kowloon.

The investigation is ongoing and customs said they may make more arrests.
