He modified a subwoofer box in his car boot to have a trapdoor so he could hide his stash of drugs there.
His plan to smuggle drugs even went undetected when he was arrested on Monday for defying the movement control order (MCO).
He was released on bail then.
However, the long arm of the law caught up with him after the police inspected a courier company in Jalan Tandang here on Thursday.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said following intelligence, the police raided the company at around 3.20pm.
“Based on information we received from the checks there, we arrested the 27-year-old unemployed man and seized his car at Sungai Way.
“We checked his car and found an assortment of drugs hidden in the subwoofer, ” he told reporters at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters yesterday.
The police seized 440 ecstasy pills, 500 erimin 5 pills, 300g of ketamin and 7.14kg of a powdery substance also believed to be drugs.
“About an hour later, we arrested a 24-year-old foreign woman in a raid in Bukit Jalil.
“We seized 300g of syabu and RM320,000 in cash, foreign currencies, three gold bars weighing 48g and some jewellery, ” he said.
He added that they then conducted another raid in Taman Klang Utama at 4am yesterday and arrested another male suspect.
He said the suspects were part of a syndicate active in the Klang Valley for over six months.
“They were using the courier company to supply their drugs to users in other states, including those in Borneo, ” he said.
When the suspect was arrested for violating the MCO four days prior to the raid, ACP Nik Ezanee said he was driving the car with the modified audio system in which the drugs were hidden but he managed to avoid detection then.
“We caught up with him eventually, ” he said, adding that all the suspects had been remanded to help in the investigations.
