A 22-year-old from Odisha’s Koraput district was caught in possession of 1132 grams of hashish oil, valued at approximately ₹11.32 lakh by the South-West Zone Task Force team and the Tappachabutra police.
Police said that the accused, Lalit Mandi, used to purchase the contraband from Sarata Pujari, also from Odisha, who remains absconding. “Initial enquiry revealed that Mandi had been working under Pujari for the past six months, delivering hash oil and ganja to customers in Hyderabad in exchange for commission. Pujari never disclosed the identities of his customers, instead directing Mandi to specific locations where he would make deliveries without direct contact details,” said the police.
Five days prior to his arrest, Pujari handed over 1100 grams of hash oil to Mandi, instructing him to deliver it to a customer in Hyderabad for a commission of ₹30,000.
On February 6, Mandi arrived in Hyderabad and was en route to a hotel in Jhirra, Tappachabutra, when he was intercepted by the South-West Zone Task Force and Tappachabutra Police.
