Israeli ‘Cannabis House’ At Davos: We’ll Take Their Latest Pitch With A Large Pinch Of Salt

They say, “CannaTech’s Cannabis House at World Economic Forum in Switzerland to host discussions on topics such as how cannabis can drive environmental security.” We say you’d better get a move on now you’ve decided to sail this boat.

We also say, we don’t remember this angle being pushed at CannaTech confs 24 months back, then it was all about new markets and share price. Maybe they’ve seen the light, although our inbuilt bullshit detector suggests a designed corporate muddling of the Greta message for a bit of selfservice and the ultimate desire to make cash.

Here’s the blurb, we take this with a large pinch of salt

Cannabis industry leaders from across the globe will network at a dedicated Cannabis House set up by Tel Aviv-based CannaTech at the 50th annual World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Switzerland, January 21-24.

Discussions planned at the venue include the potential of sustainable hemp-derived fabric, plastic and concrete; the economic role of cannabis in healthcare, international trade, investment and environmental and resource security; securing and de-risking cannabis investments; and how the cannabis economy can drive social equity and justice in countries where the plant is grown.

“Cannabis is on the verge of seriously impacting healthcare and the ways people partake in leisure activities. On the global level, the threat of climate change has opened peoples’ eyes to hemp as a sustainable plant with innumerable uses for construction, industry, and medicine,” said Saul Kaye, founder and CEO of CannaTech and iCAN: Israel-Cannabis.

“These recent developments are creating new international ecosystems that will impact everyone from local farm workers in Africa to the world’s largest corporations in the Western world. Davos could not be a better place to examine the place of cannabis in the world at the beginning of this new decade,” said Kaye.

The concept of a cannabis pavilion was pioneered by CannaTech at last year’s forum in partnership with US-based OTC Markets and the Canadian Securities Exchange. An additional partner in this year’s dedicated Davos Cannabis House is wellness products maker Kannaswiss.

Some 3,000 people are expected to attend the World Economic Forum, whose theme for 2020 is “Stakeholders for a Cohesive and Sustainable World.” The Davos Cannabis House represents Israel’s only organized presence at the forum this year.
