Dubai: Kuwait has successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of narcotics from the United Kingdom into the country via air freight.
In a statement, the Ministry of Interior revealed that the seized shipment included a significant quantity of Lyrica capsules, hashish, and other suspected narcotic substances.
Authorities confiscated 50,000 Lyrica capsules, three kilograms of hashish, and four kilograms of other narcotics.
The case involves a lawyer and several others, one of whom remains a fugitive outside the country. It is linked to earlier investigations that had already led to the arrest of a Kuwaiti man.
Further investigations revealed that the mastermind behind the operation— also a Kuwaiti national living abroad — has a criminal record and is subject to prior court rulings, including a prison sentence in absentia.
