Liberia: LDEA Seizes Over 2 Kilograms of Cocaine at Bo Waterside, Arrests Nigerian National

MONROVIA – The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has intercepted over 2 kilograms of cocaine worth $126,846 at the Bo Waterside Port of Entry.

The drugs were seized on February 8 in a major drug trafficking bust.

According to LDEA officials, 44-year-old Nigerian national David Dioumessy, traveling from Guinea with an ECOWAS passport, was stopped at the border while attempting to enter Liberia.

Upon initial questioning, Dioumessy claimed to be carrying only one bag. However, further investigation led to the discovery of an additional suitcase in a vehicle with the plate number AVQ 743, containing 2.34 kilograms of cocaine.

A subsequent body search revealed two tubes of cocaine hidden in his underwear, weighing 53 grams.

LDEA Commissioner Col. Anthony Suoh confirmed the arrest, stating that Dioumessy had attempted to flee when officers began their search.

Dioumessy is currently in custody and has been transferred to the LDEA Investigation Section for further questioning. He will face prosecution in court for drug trafficking charges.
