Maine: The State Marijuana Legalization Implementation Committee Have Another Crack At It After Gov Veto

The Maine Marijuana Legalization Implementation Committee will meet next Friday, January 5th for its first meeting of the second legislative session. The hearing will serve as a public hearing on LD 1719 “An Act To Implement a Regulatory Structure for Adult Use Marijuana,” the updated implementation omnibus bill.

Text for LD 1719 is available here. Bill text is largely the same as the omnibus from last session, which passed the House and Senate but could not overcome the Governor’s veto, save for updated deadlines to reflect later passage of implementation. Committee members remain positive that the legislature can pass something this session, but are also feeling the tight timeline they face with repeal of the moratorium in February.
