New Book: Billion Dollar Dimebag An Insider’s Account of America’s Legalish Cannabis Industry.

With each passing day, there’s a new batch of stories about the booming cannabis business. Here’s one more: Jackson D. Tilley — a cannabis expert who currently serves as vice president of strategic partnerships and communications for Organa Brands — has signed a deal with Post Hill Press to publish his nonfiction book Billion Dollar Dimebag: An Insider’s Account of America’s Legalish Cannabis Industry. In the book, Tilley, who also just signed for representation with CAA, provides an account about the business from where he sits in his life and career — as a gay, sober Millennial working in one of the most disruptive (and profitable) industries in America. Per a release about the new tome, “with… a heavy dose of self-reflection, Tilley expertly narrates the often misunderstood story of the cannabis industry, along with his own journey into sobriety.” The book is available for pre-sale and will be available everywhere books are sold Sept. 17.

Tilley climbed the ladder at a small vape company while it grew into the nation’s leading cannabis distributor. The cannabis industry exploded in Colorado in January of 2014, and shortly thereafter, Tilley secured an internship at O.penVAPE, a Denver-based vaporizer company. (Organa Brands include O.penVAPE, Bakked, Magic Buzz and District Edibles, each fueled by Organa Labs cannabis oil.) He recounts his experience in the industry as the longtime controversial drug worked its way into the mainstream. He touches on politics, his personal story from using through finding recovery, America’s complicated relationship with marijuana laws, the way the drug is marketed and the younger generation. “This book is largely about disruption, both personally and professionally,” Tilley tells THR.

Simon & Schuster will distribute in hardcover and e-book format, while Tilley has also struck a deal with Audible for the audio rights to the book with Tilley on board to narrate. “I’m over the moon to be working with these two great publishers. I was sold on working with Jacob Hoye at Post Hill Press thanks to his decorated career as an editor; that experience paired with distribution by Simon & Schuster made the deal a no-brainer,” Tilley said in a statement. “I’ve long dreamt of sharing the untold story of the business of cannabis. I’m also thrilled to be narrating the book myself, so that listeners have an opportunity to hear first-hand the human aspects of the characters that make up this new American industry.”

Post Hill Press editor Jacob Hoye negotiated the deal on behalf of his company; Rena Ayer for Audible; CAA’s Cait Hoyt on behalf of Tilley. As part of his day job, Tilley, 27, has been quoted in USA Today, Forbes, the Los Angeles Times and The Denver Post, among others. He still lives in Denver with fiancé Michael and their dog Bobby Kennedy.
