New Cannabidiol Bill Introduced in U.S. Congress

21 March 2016

On Friday, Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) introduced a Bill in Congress that would provide   protection under federal law for the use of CBD oil for medical purposes and for production and distribution for medical research. The CBD Oil Act of 2016 (H.R. 4779) would amend the federal Controlled Substances Act (21 U.S.C. 801 et seq.) to bar prosecution where the conduct alleged is based on such medical use, production or distribution, and the alleged activity “is lawful under State law in the place it occurs.”

A story in the Desert News provides some good background on the Bill. Read the full story at http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865650291/Rep-Jason-Chaffetz-unveils-bill-to-protect-users-of-cannabidiol-oil.html?pg=all
