Here’s the press release
It is my pleasure to announce that following a thorough recruitment and interview process, we have selected George Williams as the LCB’s choice for Information Technology Services (ITS) Division Director and Chief Information Officer (CIO). His appointment is effective immediately.
Congratulations George Williams
George was originally the ITS Operations Manager but has been serving as Acting CIO since February. George stepped in at that time to seamlessly lead the division and continue moving the agency’s technology needs forward despite the unique challenges presented by COVID.
Military and Government Operations Experience
George has many years of diverse public service. His military, civilian, and government background has prepared him well to perform in a wide range of leadership and operational functions. He is retiring in August from the Army National Guard where he amassed over 25 years of military and government operations management experience. His experience leading mission critical projects, with direct supervision of teams comprised of 2 to 120 people, in both government and military settings, will be valuable in the important work of the agency ahead.
On the technology side, George is also an experienced IT manager with a broad and deep knowledge of IT management. He is experienced with strategic and tactical planning, operations management, budget planning, IT project/portfolio management, enterprise support of computing (infrastructure/desktop/network) environments, contract/vendor management, COOP planning, risk management, and cyber security to leverage technology in order to achieve the organization’s mission.
Looking ahead, cannabis stakeholders will become familiar with George though our mutual technology issues including traceability, the Systems Modernization Project and others. You will find him to be straight talking, a good listener, and calm under pressure. I look forward to our continued work together with George as an important member of the LCB team.
