Proposed consumer protections for the sale and distribution of finished hemp products in New Mexico have passed the Agriculture and Water Resources Committee of the state’s House of Representatives.

The bill (HB 88) amends the 2019 Hemp Manufacturing Act by adding minimum standards for product safety, product description, allowable THC levels, storage, and record keeping, and establishes penalties for noncompliance. The proposed regulations apply to hemp products made in New Mexico or imported from out of state. The rules would be enforced by the New Mexico Environment Department.
