Member of the New South Wales Legislative Council Jeremy Buckingham has produced a bud of cannabis before parliament while proposing new laws to legalise personal consumption of the drug.
The Legalise Cannabis Party member flashed the marijuana, which he clarified was obtained on medicinal grounds, in NSW parliament on Wednesday as he made his case for the possession and cultivation of the psychoactive drug to be decriminalised.
“What’s to be afraid of, here it is,” Mr Buckingham said, pulling out the weed from his pocket.
“A bit of cannabis, medicinal cannabis, my medicinal cannabis. There it is, don’t be afraid, this is a herb, it is a medicine, it is a recreation, and it should be legal in this country.
