Empire Standard is billed as the state’s first large-scale facility that will convert bulk hemp extracts into health, beauty and wellness products and then market and distribute them to retail businesses.
It is one of several such businesses in the pipeline to open in New York, including at least three others in the Binghamton/Johnson City area.
Empire Standard, whose other partner is a local company called Modern Marketing Concepts, is located in a 20,000-square-foot facility in the Binghamton Industrial Park, just east of the city.
The New York law creates what are likely the strictest quality control standards for hemp extracts in the United States.
