A New Zealand navy-led task force has discovered 2357kg of hashish in a drug bust in the Middle East.
The US Coast Guard, working as part of the task force, noticed a suspicious dhow (a small sailing vessel) off the coast of Oman last week.
A team searched the vessel and discovered the hashish.
“Our command is a small cog in a system focused on interdicting illicit trafficking on the high seas,” Royal New Zealand Navy commodore Rodger Ward said.
“This is a team effort and this bust would not have been possible without the support of the 47 nations which make up the Combined Maritime Force.”
