Not A Good Sign: Former president and co-founder of Cresco Labs resigns from Chicago cannabis firm’s board

The Chicago Tribune is reporting…

Three months after stepping down as president of Cresco Labs, Joe Caltabiano has resigned from the board of the Chicago-based cannabis firm.

The decision, which Caltabiano announced in a news release Friday, severs all executive ties to Cresco Labs, which Caltabiano co-founded in 2013 and helped grow into one of the largest cannabis operators in the U.S., from production facilities to its recreational marijuana dispensaries.

Caltabiano said Monday he resigned from Cresco’s board as he “explores other opportunities” in the cannabis industry.

“As I look to move on to the next chapter, it is becoming apparent that whatever I do will have an operational component as well as a board component to it,” Caltabiano, 43, said in an interview. “Sitting on two company boards isn’t really a viable option.”
