Oregon Cannabis Association Issues Social Justice Warrior Type Press Release

……In their attempt to address the problems, whatever they may be?

We aren’t actually informed what the issues are and who said what to whom.

Maybe one has to be part of the privileged inner circle to understand the squabbles?

Vague and hoary statements such as the following, are, we suggest, rather pointless if one is trying to clean up an industry

  • While we may sometimes disagree with each other politically, we stand united when we say that the cannabis industry is, and always will be, better than this.
  • The OCA also believes that we can take the shock we all feel and channel it into a re-commitment towards building a diverse and positive space where ALL are welcome.
  • Be good to each other

Here’s their press release in full

On behalf of the Oregon Cannabis Association we feel that it is important to respond to the, now substantiated, reports regarding hate and bigotry in our cannabis community. While we may sometimes disagree with each other politically, we stand united when we say that the cannabis industry is, and always will be, better than this. As an industry founded in social justice and criminal justice reform, we cannot tolerate, nor will we, those who wish to inspire violence, acrimony and racism.

One of the greatest gifts of being involved in a burgeoning industry is that we can strive to right the wrongs perpetrated against people of color in the drug war, encourage more women to be involved as leaders and business owners, support the LGBTQ+ community and create something we can all be proud of today and in the future. Every single day the OCA is actively working towards those goals and we will continue to support our membership in doing the same.

The OCA also believes that we can take the shock we all feel and channel it into a re-commitment towards building a diverse and positive space where ALL are welcome. Where we can remember our roots as a movement and consistently strive to advocate for a better industry and a better world. We will not let a few define us and will stand together in this important work.

Be good to each other,

The Board of the Oregon Cannabis Association
