San Bernardino Deputies Arrest Man After He Opened Fire On Them As They Tried To Serve Warrant For Illegal Grow House

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials arrested a Piñon Hills man earlier this week after they said he opened fire on deputies as they tried to serve a search warrant at a home suspected of housing an illegal marijuana grow.

Members of the sheriff’s department’s Marijuana Enforcement Team were at the residence in the 10000 block of Desert View Road in Piñon Hills on Wednesday.

“The residence was identified as a location operating an illegal indoor marijuana grow house,” the sheriff’s department said.

Officials said that’s when the suspect, identified as Luis Rolando Garcia, reportedly “pointed a rifle at law enforcement officers” and fired. Sheriff’s spokesperson Gloria Huerta said the weapon was an “AR-15 style rifle,” adding that one deputy returned fire.
