Over $60,000 of cannabis products were seized after Santa Barbara County sheriff’s deputies stopped a person allegedly driving for an unlicensed cannabis delivery service.
During a traffic stop of an 18-year-old driver for allegedly speeding in Buellton, a deputy noticed the driver had an open container of marijuana in the vehicle, according to a Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kelly Hoover.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Special Investigations Bureau, Cannabis Compliance and Enforcement Team, responded to assist in the investigation.
While investigating, it was discovered the driver had a large quantity of marijuana without a valid cannabis license, she added.
Sgt. John Maxwell said the Sheriff’s Office could not release the name of the driver nor the time or day the traffic stop occurred because the investigation was ongoing.
Detectives discovered the driver was participating in an unlicensed cannabis delivery service in various parts of Santa Barbara County, the spokeswoman said, adding the driver was too young to lawfully possess marijuana and allegedly working for unlicensed delivery service based in San Luis Obispo County.
Arrests are the pending and the case remains an active investigation, the spokeswoman said.
