Full Job Description

Heather L. Burke is seeking a Senior Counsel to support our busy cannabis-focused law practice which serves clients throughout the Emerald Triangle and the Sierra Nevada mountain range. We are looking for a sharp attorney with a demonstrated aptitude for business and transactional law, who can also work well with a team and utilize their analytical skills in unusual settings, including training associate attorneys. Currently, the position will consist of remote work, with the potential to move into one of our two rural offices when it is safe to do so.

Primary responsibilities:

Senior Counsel will take an active part in client communications and manage various complex legal and regulatory projects.
Senior Counsel the Associate Attorney will draft and negotiate various business related documents, such as governance documents, purchase/services agreements, employment agreements, and the like.
Potential travel throughout Northern California and the Bay Area when travel is safe again.

Ideal candidates will have the following skills:

Ability to comprehend complex matters and identify the laws that are applicable to them.
Exceptional organization and time management skills.
Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
Thorough knowledge of legal procedure and willingness to keep up with an ever shifting legal landscape.
Proficiency in MS Office, the Google suite, and related programs.

Hourly pay will be on the low end of market rate, but may be renegotiated after some set period of time based on performance. Once you’ve proved yourself, the sky’s the limit.
