An odd-job worker was charged at the magistrate court here today with trafficking cannabis weighing a total of 198,450 grams early this month.

Muhammad Hariz Abdull Malek was charged with committing the offence at the Immigration, Customs and Quarantine complex at Bukit Kayu Hitam at about 8.40am on Aug 9.

The charge was read to him by the court interpreter. No plea was recorded.

Muhammad Hariz was charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a maximum death penalty upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Aqharie Durranie Aziz prosecuted while Hariz was not represented.
