The Civil Guard, within the framework of the Abdera operation, has dismantled the historic clan of the “Pintaos” that was dedicated to introducing large amounts of hashish along the coast of Almería and has arrested 20 people for the crimes of criminal organization, against public health and against road safety. In this sense, 12 vehicles have been seized, six high-speed boats and one recreational, 6,000 liters of gasoline, a handgun and 5,997 kilos of hashish, informs the Civil Guard in a press release.
The operation began after learning that components of the well-known clan would be introducing hashish in fast and recreational boats in the west of Almeria. The first intervention took place at the end of December last year, when OCON-SUR agents, who were on the coast facing the possibility of a drug cache, observed how a boat was being towed by a truck.
Next to the boat was a group of people and another group that carried out security tasks, known as points. At that time, and given the conviction that a high-speed boat was to be launched, the agents intervened and its occupants fled on foot, “even leaving the tractor running, which overturned on the beach.” Inside the four-engined vessel, 190 cans of gasoline prepared for refueling were located, a total of about 3,800 liters of fuel, as well as satellite phones and electronic material.
