Representatives Thomas Garrett (R-VA-5) and Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) have introduced comprehensive marijuana reform legislation known as the Ending Federal Marijuana Prohibition Act of 2017, HR 1227.
HR 1227 would immediately eliminate federal criminal penalties for possessing and growing marijuana. This legislation further gives states the power and flexibility to establish their own marijuana policies free from federal interference by removing cannabis from the Controlled Substances Act.
