We sort of concur with Montu’s modus operandi although it is indicative of Australia that a deal with the NRL has to be the only way to go as sports, politics and power are inextricably entwined in Australia.
We presume their thinking is that the board members at the NRL have enough influence in certain halls of power to put pressure on the TGA not to put a stop to the deal.
Personally i think it is a dangerous precedent allwing a cannabis company to get into bed with a national sports body in Australia for many reasons i won’t get into right now.
The simple fact is that the Australian Federal government needs to see what’s happening in the states with regard to more political engagement around the issues concerning legalizing cannabis and start having a serious debate
The Greens have pushed for legislative change for a number of years and their last draft bill was actually quite sensible, why not debate it properly?
Instead I imagine we’ll get a similar fix that is a non fix like the current medical cannabis debacle that allows bad actors to flourish, the regulators waste time and resources and the politicians to further bury their heads in the sand over the whole issue
