May 2019 Cannabis Legislative Updates Including New THC Limits For Industrial Hemp

Rules and regulations continue to evolve and develop in the world of cannabaceae. On May 15th, the ODA adopted final rules that permanently put on the books the proposed rules that were filed in March of this year. The most controversial change in the new rules involves the calculation of the maximum limit of THC allowed in industrial hemp. USDA Provides Legal Guidance for Transportation and Shipment of Hemp Products Across State Lines

On Tuesday, the United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) Office of General Counsel published the first federal agency guidance document related to the 2018 Farm Bill legislation that legalized the production of industrial hemp plants for commercial purposes. The guidance document, available here, provides insight into the federal agency’s interpretation of the legislative changes associated with passage of the bill.
