US HEMP AUTHORITYTM TO HOLD VIRTUAL PUBLIC SESSION
ON MARCH 27th AT 2pm (EST)

Organization Soliciting Hemp and CBD Experts for Technical Committee March 27th, 2-3 PM via Zoom Conference.

For meeting details, email info@ushempauthority.org.
The U.S. Hemp AuthorityTM Certification Program, the hemp industry’s initiative to provide high standards, best practices, and self-regulation for hemp growers, processors, manufacturers, and brand owners in the dietary supplement, food/beverage, and cosmetic spaces, will be holding a virtual public session on March 27th to update industry stakeholders on the progress of the effort and solicit members for its Technical Committee.  While the program initially planned to offer in-person public sessions at the now-cancelled Natural Products Expo West® and NOCO Hemp Expo conferences, the nation’s response to the COVID-19 crisis merited that this meeting, open to the public, now be held virtually, via the Zoom Conferencing Platform, on March 27th from 2pm – 3pm ET.

In 2019, the U.S. Hemp AuthorityTM underwent a months-long effort involving farmers, experts, scientists, and industry stakeholders from across the country to strengthen its policies and standards. After receiving more than 2,000 comments, the organization debuted its Guidance Procedures 2.0 in November.  For its groundbreaking work, Prevention magazine selected the U.S. Hemp AuthorityTM for one of its 2019 Health Breakthrough Awards, billed as one of the top ten major medical innovations of the past year.

The Guidance Procedures, however, will always be considered a work in progress, and the group’s Technical Committee is charged with ensuring that the organization’s standards and practices are consistently updated and improved.  That’s why the group is putting out a call for new members for the Committee, and it is inviting all stakeholders – from farmers and processors, to manufacturers, brand owners, scientists, and more – to apply for this important work.  The virtual session will be a chance for interested parties to learn more about the Certification Program, the Committee, and how they can participate.

On hand during the meeting will be U.S. Hemp AuthorityTM President Marielle Weintraub and Vice President Joy Beckerman, as well as representatives from FoodChain ID, the new administrator of the Certification standard.

Individuals interested in applying for the Committee who cannot attend the session are encouraged to submit completed applications to Brooke Robertson at info@ushempauthority.org.
