What CBD Oil Can Do for You?

Cannabinol oil or more popularly known as the CBD oil comes from the cannabis plants. It has gained a lot of popularity as a reliable alternative for treating a wide range of medical issues over the past few years.

Many People have reported that CBD oil has helped them with the treatment of chronic pain, disorders of sleep and anxiety.

CBD is one among the various chemical compounds present in the Cannabis plant. CBD products usually contain very low levels of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – THC is the compound that gives the user the sensation of a ‘high’. Since these products contain low levels of THC, they do not bind to the receptors of the endocannabinoid system readily.

Therefore, people who use CBD products (oils, creams, capsules, CBD edibles etc.) for the treatment of a variety of medical conditions and ailments do not experience the intoxicating effects. This article shall walk you through the benefits of using CBD oil. Read on to know more.

1.   Reduces pain and inflammation

Researchers have time and again investigated the pain reducing capabilities of CBD. A small study with participants who suffered from peripheral noncancerous neuropathic pain were treated with CBD products.

After around a month, the researchers involved have noted a statistically considerable reduction in the intensity of pain along with cold and itchy sensations. None of the participants have reported any side effects.

Another research used a spray made of 1:1 combination of THC and CBD showed significant changes in patients. It reduced the pain and inflammation. A study on patients with rheumatoid arthritis also showed a decrease in inflammation. These have demonstrated the effectiveness of CBD on pain and inflammation.

2.   Depression and Anxiety

Research on animals has very well demonstrated the impact of CBD on mood disorders. An article in Neuropsychopharmacology, which has briefed a study on human mood behaviors has revealed promising results when CBD was used.

Researchers also said that CBD could be used to reduce anxiety and fear that roots from public speaking. The participants were given a CBD dosage before a public speaking event and many of them reported less anxious and discomforting thoughts. These participants also observed that they had lower negative self-evaluation during the event.

Scientists suggest that CBD can help relieve the patients from anxiety disorders and fear that stems due to fearful events. Although the results are promising, more research has to be conducted on humans to further understand the impact of CBD on the human mind.

3.   Addiction management and treatment

Experts suggest that CBD oil can be used to treat people with addiction issues by reduction in the activation of amygdala (the area of the brain that is associated with addiction). Cravings for drugs is one example of the addiction issues.

A research study that was published in the American Journal of Psychiatry explored the possibility of using CBD to cure heroin addicted people of their anxiety and craving. The scientists have established that when compared to placebo, those people who took CBD dosage showed lower levels of cravings and anxiety.

The results are quite promising, but we still need further investigation into the usage of CBD for treating addiction management.

4.   Inflammatory skin conditions

Some studies have shown that a few cannabinoids showed positive response in treating the inflammation, itching, aging and cancer properties. Experts suggest that this impact is caused when the drug is involved in interaction with the endocannabinoid system present in the skin.

Several cell studies have also demonstrated that the CBD products helped in preventing some functions of the sebaceous glands that play a key role in generation of acne. However, more research has to be done on humans to confirm these findings.

Some skin conditions that may be improved or treated with CBD products include:

  • Psoriasis
  • Skin cancer
  • Atopic dermatitis
  • Acne
  • Skin cancer
  • Itchy skin

5.   Neuroprotection

Animal studies have shown that CBD may provide neuroprotective activity in many neurodegenerative diseases like:

  • ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Huntington’s disease
  • Alzheimer’s disease
  • MS (multiple sclerosis)

Scientists suggest that the neuroprotective capabilities occur due to the anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of CBD.

Many people use CBD oil and other CBD based products for a range of reasons, from reducing pain to managing seizures and controlling anxiety.

Although there are several promising results, we still need more research to be conducted to prove its effectiveness in the treatment for several other medical conditions.
