Cannabis Rescheduling: What Changes, What Doesn’t, and What Comes Next
The panel will examine what a move from Schedule I to Schedule III would — and would not — change under federal law. Discussion will cover the potential outcomes for federal enforcement, cannabis research, taxation, FDA oversight, interstate commerce, state cannabis programs and hemp-derived cannabinoids.
Shawn will participate in the NICS Legal Roundtable, moderated by Prof. Robert Mejia, alongside Prof. Sam Kamin, Riana Durrett, J.D., and David Holland, Esq.
The National Cannabis Research Conference is hosted by the Institute of Cannabis Research at Colorado State University Pueblo in conjunction with the National Interdisciplinary Cannabis Symposium. Running October 19 to 21, it brings together researchers, policymakers, legal professionals and other leaders in cannabis science, policy and practice. This mix makes the legal roundtable an opportunity to examine rescheduling within the broader research and regulatory landscape.
The session is designed for attorneys, judges, policymakers, regulators and compliance professionals and will offer CLE credit. The roundtable runs 11:50 a.m.–12:15 p.m. PT.
