Last week, Politico released a ProAnalysis on minor cannabinoids in which the U.S. Hemp Roundtable was cited as a “Power Player” alongside leaders such as Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-ME) and FDA senior public health adviser Norman Birenbaum. The article states —
The industry trade organization has been a vocal proponent of the hemp industry as well as an outspoken opponent of the burgeoning market for intoxicating cannabinoids being marketed as hemp. The group pushed hemp as a non-intoxicating product when it advocated its legalization through the 2018 farm bill.
The piece provides a high level overview of cannabis derived cannabinoids including naturally occurring or artificial and non-intoxicating or intoxicating. The U.S. Hemp Roundtable believes all products containing hemp-derived cannabinoids should be regulated for consumer safety, and those that are intoxicating should be limited to adult-use and kept out of the hands of minors.
