Members of the drug gang illegally brought Ecuadorian cocaine to Ukraine from European countries and distributed it through verified dealers in wholesale lots.
The drug was sold in various regions of Ukraine in batches of 1 kg. It is known that they took 45 thousand dollars for a kilogram.
Law enforcement officers detained one of the members of the group — a former policeman — while receiving $135 000 in exchange for more than 3 kilograms of the drug. He is a 42-year-old resident of Lviv Oblast, who served as a precinct police officer until 2021.
In addition to the law enforcement officer, the organized criminal group included customs officials and citizens of some EU countries.
During the investigation, it was established that before the war, drug dealers imported large quantities of the drug into Ukraine through the sea trade port of Odessa. Cocaine was hidden in a specially equipped hiding place in one of the containers.
However, due to military operations, the supply channel ceased to exist and drug dealers created a new way to supply drugs through the land border with Poland in the Lviv region.
Urgent investigative actions are currently underway, searches for possible drug storage sites, persons involved in the commission of a crime, etc.
The former police officer was informed of the suspicion of a person due to the fact of selling narcotics in particularly large quantities.
