Nepal: Police constable, two others arrested with leopard skin and hashish

DHANGADI, Oct 19: Three individuals have been arrested in Dhangadhi for possession of a leopard skin and hashish. Among the arrested is a police assistant constable employed at the office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers of Sudurpaschim.

The detained individuals have been identified as Assistant Constable Karan Bahadur Chand, a 26-year-old resident of Gaumul Rural Municipality-1 in Bajura, and Dhan Krishna Rokaya, along with Hemraj Joshi, aged 30, hailing from Budhiganga Municipality-10.

The arrests took place during a routine check at Jumera Hotel near Sahidgate in Dhangadhi at 7 PM on Wednesday, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Chand. The police discovered a leopard skin measuring 7 feet 6 inches in length and 1 foot 10 inches in width, as well as 6.74 kilograms of hashish in the possession of the arrestees.

The operation involved a collaborative effort from various police officers, including Police Inspector Janakraj Dhungana from Kailali, Police Inspector Padam Bahadur Thapa from the Narcotics Control Bureau Mahendranagar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Dipendra Kimadi from the Provincial Police Office in Dhangadhi, and Sub-Inspector Prakash Kadayat from the Nepal Police Headquarters in Mahendranagar.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Chand confirmed that an investigation is in progress following the arrests.
