Our next Compliance Specialist will be responsible for effective development and maintenance of regulatory operations for TerrAscend MD operating under Maryland medical and personal-use cannabis regulations. The Compliance Specialist works closely with the Compliance Manager and Departmental leadership to drive the successful regulatory performance of Maryland licensed retail facilities.
One minute you will be on-site conducting a compliance assessment in one of our dispensaries.
The next minute communicating with regulatory officials on documentation submitted to the Commission.
And the next minute providing an update to business partners on a regulatory updates within the State.
Regardless of the task, it’s critical you have strong situational awareness and EQ as you’ll work with many diverse teams and stakeholders across the organization.
Where you’ll be planted:
This is a hybrid position that requires regular (weekly) on-site visits in our four (4) Maryland dispensaries. We are searching for someone ideally located near our Hagerstown, MD grow & processing facility, but there is not an on-site requirement in Hagerstown. We cannot consider candidates outside the State of Maryland.
Our current dispensary locations are:
Cumberland, MD
Burtonsville, MD
Salisbury, MD
Parkville, MD

To be blunt, this person will:

  • Aid in the development and submittal of standard operating procedures, critical documentation as required by Maryland rules and regulations.
  • Conduct regulatory compliance assessments to ensure conformance with Maryland cannabis rules, regulations, and associated laws.
  • Regularly travel to permitted Maryland dispensary locations to work closely with staff on operations compliance, code of conduct, safety and security standards.
  • Ensure all require reporting to Maryland state regulators are on-time and adequate with rules and regulations.
  • Utilize the company’s internal management software and point of sale system to monitor quality operations including but not limited to inventory tracking, sales compliance, lot and batch tracking.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in regulatory legislation and guidelines pertaining to cannabis.
  • Work with assigned Commission regulatory officials to ensure that all required documentation is in full compliance.
  • Assist with the drafting, reviewal, and approval of retail standard operating procedures.
  • Review executed product labels, certificate of analysis’s, and other quality control records to ensure company standards are being held.
  • Perform root cause analysis for inventory deviations and variances as required and report to management.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the assigned regulatory processes throughout cultivation, processing, and dispensary facilities.
  • Become a subject matter expert in all applicable internal management and inventory systems.
  • Review and assess sales reports, product deliveries, and other critical documentation.
  • Be knowledgeable of safe workplace operations including security systems and OSHA requirements where applicable.

  • Minimum of 2 years of compliance and/or related professional experience.
  • Strong understanding and practical knowledge of regulatory operations.
  • Cannabis experience is a plus.
  • Must have good organizational and computer skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must have excellent interpersonal communications skills as well as the ability to multitask.
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass a comprehensive background check.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able and willing to travel regularly to our dispensary sites within Maryland
