Press Release: May 9, STIIIZY and Healing Urban Barrios hosted an Expungement Clinic & Second Chance Resource Fair

May 9), STIIIZY and Healing Urban Barrios hosted an Expungement Clinic & Second Chance Resource Fair in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles. The clinic helped increase accessibility to expungement, helping individuals with minor drug-related offenses clean their records and provide them with a new lease on life.

Special guests that attended the Expungement Clinic included Fabian Alomar, pro skateboarder and actor (“Flamin’ Hot,” “This Fool”), and Councilwoman Eunisess Hernandez (District 1), who also supported the event on social media via Instagram and X.

The event had an excellent turnout, resulting in 30+ people having their records expunged, with another 20+ people on the waitlist for appointments at a later date. Expungement allows those with prior convictions to build pathways to improved outcomes, including employment, housing, and family reunification. Healing Urban Barrios will continue offering expungement services, with the hope of getting 100-150+ people expunged over the coming weeks.

The event offered attendees complementary food from Blue’s Tacos and live music. There were also over 15 booths offering job applications and merch from organizations including Health Net, Goodwill Southern California, City of Los Angeles Office of the City Clerk providing voter information, Costco, Health Net, CPR certification, Via Care Community Health Center, California Justice Leaders (AmeriCorps) and Listos California.
