Press Release: Missouri Hemp Trade Association endorses Senator Karla May’s amendment for responsible hemp regulation

ST. LOUIS, MO – The Missouri Hemp Trade Association (MHTA) proudly announces its full support for Senator Karla May’s proposed amendment aimed at implementing sensible regulations for the hemp industry in Missouri. As advocates for the safe and responsible use of hemp-derived products, the MHTA is formally adopting the language of Senator May’s amendment and enforcing it in the Missouri hemp industry.

At the core of the MHTA’s principles are the implementation of clear user instructions, the prohibition of sales to minors, and the enforcement of rigorous product testing. These measures are essential in safeguarding consumers while allowing them to benefit from the numerous advantages offered by all hemp cannabinoids which are not a Schedule 1 drug and are federally legal.

Hemp by definition is below .3% delta 9 THC, intoxicating or not. MHTA supports the products being sold and regulated just as alcohol and tobacco are currently.  Available in any retail or online location with a valid MO state sales tax license, and a way to verify buyer’s age.

Clear User Instructions: The MHTA recognizes the importance of providing consumers with comprehensive and transparent instructions for the use of hemp-derived products. Clear guidelines help consumers understand how to safely and effectively incorporate these products into their daily routines.

Prohibition of Sales to Minors: Protecting the well-being of minors is a top priority for the MHTA. We firmly support Senator May’s proposal to prohibit the sale of hemp-derived products to individuals under the legal age. By implementing this measure, we aim to prevent underage access and promote responsible consumption practices.

Rigorous Product Testing: Quality assurance is paramount in the hemp industry. The MHTA advocates for stringent product testing protocols to ensure that all hemp-derived products meet the highest standards of safety and efficacy. Senator May’s amendment emphasizes the importance of rigorous testing, aligning with our commitment to delivering premium-quality products to consumers.

“As a leading voice in the hemp industry, the Missouri Hemp Trade Association is dedicated to promoting responsible regulation that prioritizes consumer safety,” said Sean Hackman, President Title of the MHTA. “We wholeheartedly endorse Senator Karla May’s amendment, which reflects our shared values and commitment to upholding the integrity of the hemp market in Missouri.”

The MHTA encourages all stakeholders, lawmakers, and members of the community to support Senator Karla May’s efforts to establish comprehensive and sensible regulations for the hemp industry.  By contacting your State elected officials, together, we can ensure the safe and responsible use of hemp-derived products while fostering continued growth and innovation in this burgeoning sector.
