This morning, the Supreme Court issued a landmark decision overturning Chevron deference.
The 114-page decision marks a significant shift in how courts interact with federal agency interpretations of laws.
Previously, under the Chevron Doctrine, courts would defer to agency interpretation when implementing rules, which often posed a major challenge to plaintiffs contesting federal rule-making. That deference is no longer permissible.
Chevron U.S.A., Inc. v. Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc.
Many state courts had also adopted the Chevron Doctrine, so the impact of this Supreme Court ruling will be widespread and profound, especially in highly regulated industries like the cannabis and =hemp industry
