It’s Black Friday over at Massachusetts CCC

Per sources, the Massachusetts CCC’s Director of Testing, James Kocis, has resigned and left the agency.
This, amid reports that a large number of falsely tested products may have reached consumers in the Commonwealth over recent years (due, in part, due to a lack of intervention by CCC testing staff).

I can now also report, for the first time, that Kocis is alleged to have had ties (prior to joining the CCC) to a lab in Massachusetts that, for years, was rumored to be engaged in potential manipulation of total yeast and mold testing.
Just earlier tonight, on this feed, it was also reported that the CCC’s director of licensing, Kyle Potvin, had resigned the agency amid ongoing controversy.
This is a breaking story. More as I know it.

At a legislative hearing last week, a lobbyist representing local testing labs called the CCC “unpredictable” and “unaccountable.”
A testing industry executive, meanwhile, alleged that Massachusetts faces “a big problem” of marijuana businesses shopping for favorable lab results – and that hiring a former lab employee to fix the situation at the very least presents the appearance of a possible conflict.
Before being tapped as the state’s marijuana testing director, Kocis worked as a manager for several years at Green Analytics, a cannabis lab in Framingham.
Green Analytics’ testing practices have come under scrutiny as part of a wider problem involving inflated THC results and so-called lab shopping.
