Position: Senior Counsel / Partner – Alcohol & Cannabis Regulatory Practice
Location: Seattle, WA (other locations considered: New York, NY; Spokane, WA; Portland, OR; Washington, D.C.)
Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel or Partner to join a prominent law firm’s Commercial, IP & Technology Group, focusing on liquor and cannabis regulatory matters. This is an exceptional opportunity to advise clients in the alcohol, beverage, and cannabis industries on licensing, compliance, distribution, contracts, and dispute resolution.
About the Role:
In this position, you will work with a diverse portfolio of clients and collaborate with a team of skilled attorneys across multiple offices. You will play a critical role in guiding clients through regulatory complexities, trade practices, and compliance issues and have the opportunity to help manage a talented legal team within a collegial, client-centered environment.
Responsibilities:
- Advise clients in the alcohol and cannabis industries on licensing, trade compliance, and regulatory issues
- Draft and negotiate contracts, distribution agreements, and other legal documents
- Assist in dispute resolution and provide strategic counsel for regulatory challenges
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of attorneys across several practice areas
Qualifications:
- JD from an ABA-accredited law school; active license to practice law
- 7+ years of experience handling alcohol and liquor regulatory matters; cannabis experience a plus
- Strong analytical, writing, and client service skills
- Enthusiasm for working within a team-focused culture
- Experience managing legal teams and/or maintaining a partial book of business
- FDA regulatory experience is a plus
Compensation:
Annualized salary range: $200,000 to $325,000
Compensation based on experience, location, and other relevant factors.
