A 24-year-old man pleaded guilty to being in possession of 7g of cannabis and 3g of cocaine in circumstances that denoted it was not for personal use and was jailed for nine months on Monday afternoon.
Khadar Yusuf Abdihakin was arrested in Paceville on Sunday on suspicion that he had been dealing drugs after the police observed him approaching different individuals.
In court, he was charged with aggravated possession of cannabis and cocaine, and of committing the offence within 100m of a place frequented by youths.
The man was also charged with recidivism.
The court warned the man that he was facing prison time in addition with a fine.
The man confirmed him his guilty plea.
In submissions on punishment, AG lawyer Daniel Tabone said the man was found in possession of 7g of cannabis and 3g of cocaine, and requested nine months imprisonment and a €500 fine. The prosecution said the man had no assets.
