The New Jersey Division of Taxation has announced the implementation of the Social Equity Excise Fee (SEEF) on recreational cannabis sales in the state. Beginning Jan. 1, Class 1 (Cannabis Cultivator) license holders will be required to pay a fee of $2.50 per ounce of usable recreational cannabis sold and must file a monthly tax return (Form SF-100) by the 20th day of the following month to report total ounces sold or transferred and remit the appropriate fee, while medicinal cannabis transfers remain exempt from this requirement.
