Major drug seizure along the route between Naples and Caserta. The Carabinieri identified and seized 387 kilograms of hashish hidden in a truck coming from Barcelona. The heavy vehicle, with Spanish license plates, was stopped at dawn near the highway toll booth at Capua. At the wheel was a 46-year-old Romanian citizen who, when checked, claimed to be transporting fruit and vegetables. Inside the container, among oranges, potatoes, and pumpkins, the officers noticed a suspicious smell. The Carabinieri from the Investigative Unit of Castello di Cisterna and the Casoria Company then intervened to carry out a more thorough inspection. During the search, a total of 387 kilograms of hashish were found and seized, hidden among the crates of produce. Investigations are ongoing to reconstruct the drug trafficking chain. The driver’s position is under examination by the authorities. Initial findings suggest the illegal cargo was destined for the province of Caserta.
